Your mobile number available to anyone?

This looks like a genuine worry:

This potentially opens the door to more SMS spam to find its way to your inbox.

This should be an opt in service rather than opt out.

You can either send a text to 118800 or do it on their website, which must be hammered as it is down:

I think the worrying thing about this is that we give mobile phones to our (very young) kids, which seemingly will now be reachable by complete strangers using this service. If I was a parent, this would make me feel a little uncomfortable.

This is a different beast from the directory services for the home phone.

Ive done some reading on this issue and this 118800 information puts a new light on any privacy issues
